Mr.Q with Nicole Kidman — Santa Barbara International Film Festival

Defining Moment

Santa Barbara International Film Festival — Daisy Cutter in Official Selection

Oscar Candidate ×2 Goya Nominee Santa Barbara IFF Daisy Cutter

Cinema and animation are where mathematics turned into emotion. Directing films that were Goya nominees and twice candidate for an Oscar nomination was about visual translation: capturing perspective, scale, and timing to connect with audiences worldwide.

This photograph was taken at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival — one of the most prestigious in the United States. Mr.Q had Daisy Cutter in Official Selection the same edition where Nicole Kidman was being honored. During that festival, he also spoke with Christopher Nolan and handed him a personal copy of the film. The same Christopher Nolan who would later direct Oppenheimer, set in the Lawrence Berkeley Lab where Mr.Q had worked as a scientist. Some rooms connect across disciplines.
